Day 1: ARRIVAL  

Arrival in Catania airport; transfer to the hotel in Taormina area – allocation in hotel – overnight.

Day 2: ETNA – RANDAZZO – TAORMINA  

Breakfast in hotel. In the morning excursion to the Volcano Etna, the greatest active volcano in Europe. On to Randazzo to visit this typical village famous for the pistachio and where you have time at disposal before to continue the excursion. Proceed to Taormina, known not only for its astounding natural beauty, but also because of its splendid Greek Theatre, the second largest in Sicily. Other later, well known monument is the Cathedral, dedicated to S. Nicola, built originally in the XIII and then rebuilt at the end of the XVIII century; the Corvaia Palace and the Badia Vecchia. Back to the hotel.

Day 3: EOLIAN ISLANDS  

Today you will discover the beautiful small Eolian islands . Breakfast in hotel and departure from the hotel at about h. 07.15 to Milazzo port. Departure from Milazzo at 9 am. After sailing along the headland coast of Capo Milazzo, direct transfer to Lipari to see Punta Castagna; in this area of old pumice pits and white beaches, you can admire the charming landscape and the characteristic sea colour due to its clear seabed. After docking in Lipari you can have the opportunity to visit the old town centre, the archaeological park and to do shopping and have time at disposal. After departing from Lipari, direct transfer to the island of Vulcano for our second stop; the important attractions are the black beaches, hot springs and the sulfur mud baths. This stop also allows passengers to eat lunch in a local restaurant (optional). In the afternoon departure from Vulcano to sail around the mythological area of the Aeolian Islands, the Faraglioni, the Pope Johann rock, the Grotta degli Angeli and the Scoglio della Mummia. Particular attention to the wonderful Piscina di Venere, the charming Grotta del Cavallo and Scoglio del Leone. On the way back to Milazzo, visit from the sea to the picturesque village of Gelso to admire the ancient lighthouse. Return to Milazzo around 5.45 pm. Back to the hotel.

Day 4: SYRACUSE – MODICA – TRAPANI AREA  

After breakfast departure to Syracuse for a tour of this town and its archaeological park. One of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island. Visit the Archeological Park, with the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari, and then continue to the Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city where you have time at disposal before visit its stunning cathedral. Proceed to Modica , famous for its chocolate and tasting in a local industry. Arrival in an hotel near Trapani in the late afternoon – allocation in hotel – Overnight.

Day 5: PALERMO – MONREALE – CEFALU’  

Breakfast in hotel. All the day will be dedicate to visit the chief town of Sicily, the Arab-Normand Palermo. Palermo with its most important monuments Cathedral, Palazzo dei Normanni (ancient Royal Palace), Cappella Palatina, San Giovanni degli Eremiti, but also its old centre where there are the Theatre of Politeama and Massimo, Piazza della Vergogna and I Quattro Canti. During the visit we will make a stop in some typical street food shops to taste some typical Sicilian food as: Panino con Panelle , Sfincione (Sicilian pizza), Arancina and the typical cake Cassata (made with Sicilian cheese ricotta). In Palermo you will have time at disposal before to drive to Monreale and visit of the Cathedral. Continue to Cefalu’, whose name derives from the Greek kefaloidono that means head promontorio has the form of a small head. Visit of this lovely medieval town and its famous cathedral, one of the most beautiful in Sicily, founded by Roger II, the first King of Sicily. The cathedral of Cefalù, and some monuments of the Normand period of Monreale and Palermo are acknowledged as a UNESCO heritage site in 2015. On to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 6: FAVIGNANA – ERICE – MARSALA  

Breakfast in hotel. Today you will see one of the most typical small island of the west part of Sicily Favignana. It is one of the Egadi islands. Favignana, defined by the painter Salvatore Fiume in the ’70s “the great butterfly on the sea”; the island offers beaches with fine and golden sand and caves; in Favignana you have time at disposal before to board the hydrofoil to Trapani port and continue to Erice, town that still retains its medieval appearance, on the summit of Monte San Giuliano. During this excursion you can admire a lot of churches and convents of the Middle Age as well as the famous Norman Castle and its Dome. Continue to Marsala, knows for known for its typical wine the Marsala, you will make a stop in a cellar to make a tasting. On to the hotel.

Day 7: AGRIGENTO – PIAZZA ARMERINA – TAORMINA AREA  

Departure to Agrigento visit of the beautiful Valley of the Temples, an exceptional historic testimony to Magna Graecia’s presence in this area, as well as to subsequent epochs. The archaeological site at Agrigento was inserted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. The remains from the Hellenic city, and additionally from the successive Punic-Roman era, the imposing Doric temples – to this day almost completely intact – the agorà, the pagan and Christian necropolises, and the crawling network of subterranean aqueducts, constitute the richness of this site. Extending over approximately 1,300 hectares, it recounts a millenary history that began in the 6th Century B.C. with the foundation of the ancient Greek colony of Akragas. On to Piazza Armerina and Agrigento. First stop to Piazza Armerina, situated in the center of Sicily, where you have time at disposal before to proceed to the “Roman Villa of Casale”, which is one of the largest Roman villa’s to exist. Probably belonged to a wealthy Nobile. It hosts scenes of daily living, hunting scenes etc. Most famous is the mosaic with girls in bikini. The “Roman Villa of Casale” dates back to the year between 330 – 360 A.C. Until today the owner is still in debate, but three persons are mentioned “Proculo Populonio” governor of Sicily in (314 -337), “Caelonus Rufus Volusiani” also called Lampadius (a rich influent man) and “Sabucinius Pinianus” a Roman. The Villa has 3500 sq. mts of mosaics as pavements and some wall murals. Arrival in hotel in the late afternoon

Day 8: DEPARTURE  

Breakfast in hotel . Transfer to Catania airport and end of the services
